Maria João Morais Gouveia has a PhD in Health Psychology and a five years license degree in Social and Organizational Psychology. She is an Assistant Professor at ISPA – Instituto Universitário since 1999, and one of the directors of the Health Psychology Master’s Degree at that University. She teaches courses related to Assessment in Health Psychology, Psychology of well-being, and Exercise Psychology. She supervised more than 50 master’s theses. Maria worked also as a sport psychologist for ten years. Her area of expertise includes personal and motivational factors affecting well-being and health outcomes, assessment in health psychology, development and validation of self-assessment scales. She studies psychosocial processes that explain health and well-being across the lifespan. She’s member of the Scientific Comité of the Applied Psychology Research Center – Capabilities and Inclusion (APPSY-CI) where she leads the Human Potential- Well-being and Health Group.
